Gli artisti futuristi si caratterizzano per l’originalità e il tono
provocatorio delle proprie opere. Provocazione utilizzata come
strumento per cambiare le abitudini e i gusti artistici, proponendo
modelli estetici ed espressivi innovativi. Filippo Tommaso Marinetti è
tra gli autori del Manifesto della cucina futurista, che propone la
revisione iperbolica e fantastica della cucina italiana, modificando la
corrispondenza tra sapore e gusto. Il Futurismo, inoltre, combatte una
dura battaglia contro l’uso della pasta. Cibo che provoca sonnolenza e
debolezza e che bisogna sostituire col riso, più digeribile e adatto a
forgiare l’“uomo nuovo” fascista. Battaglia culturale per imporre nuovi
gusti alimentari? O piuttosto il sostegno alle politiche economiche del
Fascismo, che mirano a sostituire il consumo di grano (la cui
produzione è insufficiente) con quello di riso (che è invece
abbondante)? Una campagna “igienico-culturale” che prende però le forme
di uno storytelling prezzolato.

The futurist artists are characterized by originality and the spirit of
challenging of their works. Provocation is used as an instrument to
change the customs and the artistic tastes, proposing innovative
aesthetic models. Filippo Tommaso Marinetti is one of the authors of
the Manifesto della cucina futurista, which proposed the hyperbolical
and fantastic revision of Italian cuisine, modifying the matching
between flavour and taste. The Futurism also led a heavy battle against
the use of pasta. A food that provokes sleepiness and weakness, which
must be replaced by rice, more digestible and useful to forge the
fascist “new man”. Is it a cultural battle to impose new food tastes?
Or instead the support to the economic policies of the Fascism, which
aim to replace wheat (whose production isn’t enough) with rice (that
was instead plentiful)? A hygienic and cultural battle which, however,
takes the form of a for-hire storytelling.
